JAXA research and development report, 14 184-208, Mar, 2015The function to simulate an instrument's field of view has been widely used in past missions, and will be used in future missions. We develop an FOV simulator, FLOW, based on SPICE Toolkit for versatile application. The FLOW is composed of two console programs: one is a simulation engine, and the other is an image generator. The simulation engine outputs an XML file which includes a simulated result. The image generator reads the XML output, and generates an image in FITS/PNG/JPEG formats. In this report, we describe the software requirement based on use-case of the FOV simulation, and FLOW's functions to draw. In addition, introduce a web-based FLOW application using FLOW.

JAXA research and development report, 11 141-149, Mar, 2012A data distribution system for still and video images acquired by High Definition Television System (HDTV) on board JAXA's Lunar Explorer Kaguya (SELENE) is now being developed aiming at providing 1.06 million HDTV frame images for both objectives of outreach and scientific analysis. The design and data model of the system based on PDAP are described in the paper.

JAXA research and development report, 11 121-131, Mar, 2012The NASA Apollo missions from 1969 to 1977 provided the first-ever seismic data from a planetary body other than the Earth. Forty years after the acquisition of these lunar seismic data, lunar scientists continue to analyze them and derive new results related to lunar geophysics. However, the users often find the data difficult to obtain and analyze because at present not all data are publicly available and archived with a convenient interface, and also because the format of the archived data is unfamiliar to many seismologists. To alleviate this difficulty, we have developed a retrieval system for the Apollo seismic data that enables the user to obtain the data and metadata necessary to use them properly. To accomplish this, we first collected most of the Apollo lunar seismic data and information required to analyze them. Then, we built a relational database consisting of the decoded lunar seismic data and an application to access the database on the World Wide Web. Using the database and application, one can search and obtain the required lunar seismic data online. This new data retrieval system will allow more people to access the existing lunar seismic data; and we anticipate that future analysis of the archived data will generate significant progress towards better understanding of the Moon and the solar system.
