This is half of the script from a year-long TV program that aired on a cable television network on 52 Sundays during the year 2006. After introducing a bit of the development of Buddhism in America, the book introduces the teachings of the Four Marks in the context of contemporary society. Included are some examples of American Buddhist humor as well as Buddhism's interaction with science and psychology. This is a Japanese translation of an English book entitled, Buddhism on Air: Kaleidoscope of a Growing Religion (Buddhist Education Center, 2015).
It focuses on the contemporary nature of American Buddhism, as opposed to the Buddhism of Asia rooted in ancient and medieval history. The book takes up meditation and the focus on the "now" that have attracted Americans.
It is an article in which I inform the students, faculty and alums of the American School in Japan of my mission to bridge the cultural, national, religious and national boundaries.
