瀬戸内海中部・出崎海岸(岡山県玉野市)の埋没泥炭層について,その堆積環境を再検討し,完新世の相対的海水準変動との関係を考察した.泥炭層は,完新世中期のおもに約7,000~6,600 cal BPの間に,塩性湿地で形成された.この時期は,瀬戸内海沿岸域における完新世の相対的高海水準期に相当し,泥炭層は約7,000 cal BPに海水準上昇が鈍化する一方で,当該地域に及んだ海進に伴って形成されはじめた.泥炭層は高潮位面と最高潮位面との間で形成されたと考えられ,当時の潮位差が現在と同程度であった...
